The Mariner was a Confederate privateer. She was a small screw-steamer, single masted, fitted out at Wilmington under the command of Captain B. W. Berry. She mounted one 6-pounder rifle and two 12-pounder smoothbores, and carried about thirty men. On July 25, she captured and brought in her only prize, the schooner Nathaniel Chase, carrying fruit
