Air Mail Arrives

Visitors in Omaha can get an interesting thrill by going out to the air mail landing field at Fort Crook about midnight and watch Uncle Sam’s flying mailmen come and go. The field is outlined with lights and a searchlight keeps a finger of light searching the country for miles. Suddenly a cry of “Air Mail’ ’is heard and at once a huge flood of light illuminates the entire field. Soon is heard the drone of the motor and a moment later the red and the green lights of the plane are seen. The searchlights of the mail ship flash on and with a circle of the field the plane lauds. Eager hands transfer the mail sacks to an other airplane standing nearby with motor running, a cry of “good luck’’ to the pilot and with a roar the mail is on its way to Cheyenne or Chicago. It truly is a wonderful age in which we are now living.
