November 11, 1861 – The Effective Blockade

The Savannah Republican, of the 4th, announces that the British steamer Bermuda, with a cargo of 1800 bales of cotton, succeeded in getting to sea from that port Saturday night last, about eight o’clock, she weighed anchor, proceeded down the stream, and finding all things favorable, made a clear and triumphant exit over the bar. She cleared for Havre. Three cheers for the effective blockade !”
