July 19, 1861 – Amy Warwick Captured by the Blockade

The Brig Army [sic] Warwick, of Richmond from Rio Janeiro, bound to Richmond with a valuable cargo of coffee, captured by the U.S steamship Quaker City, Commander Overton Carr, while attempting the blockade, arrived at Boston on Wednesday in command of acting master J. B. Gordon, U. S. N.

The case of the Amy Warwick was appealed to the US Supreme Court, which affirmed the lower court decision regarding taking her as a prize in a 5-4 decision.
