Belgian Winner Of Long Bicycle Race

PARIS. July 29.—for the 29th annual tour de France, world’s longest end most gruelling bicycle road race, today went to Belgium.

Romain Maes, stocky Belgian, won the individual first prize. Belgian riders also took third, fourth and sixth places to give Belgium the team trophy. Maes, who covered the 4,363 kilometers along French seacoast, through the cold Alps and the sweltering inland valleys in 141 hours, 32 minutes and 39 seconds, will receive about $65,000 in prizes for his triumph.
