April 30, 1861 – The Shreveport Rangers

The Shreveport Rangers left our city on Sunday morning, to offer their services to the Governor. This company is composed, if we mistake not, of men, who fear nothing human, and can endure the most severe hardships, that may be expected in a rough campaign. Good luck attend them.

The Shreveport Rangers

The Shreveport Rangers were part of the 3rd Louisiana Infantry Regiment, which fought in several battles in Mississippi until being captured by Union forces at Vicksburg.
