March 30, 1861 – Moonlight Parade

The Cecil Guards—Capt. J. A. J. Creswell—made their first dress parade on Saturday night, treating our citizens to a very creditable and soldierly display. The new uniforms of the corps looked well even by moonlight, but it is hoped the “ boom-a-laddies’’ will soon give us a better look at them by a daylight parade. Prof. Lancaster’s Cornet Band accompanied the Guards, and no doubt inspired them with martial ardor by the stirring strains it discoursed.
