We are by no means surprised to learn that some of the Virginia Members of Congress are taking measures to prevent the circulation in that State of the recent patriotic speech of Hon. Sherrard Clemens, of the Wheeling district, on the ground that it is “an incendiary document.” The speech is one of the most effective and conclusive that has yet been delivered in Congress against secession, exposing the real objects of the secessionists, and the leaders of the rebellion are unwilling to suffer the masses to read it The fact will undoubtedly elicit from the Chicago Times another magniloquent eulogy upon “ The Mother of States and of Statesmen ”
